Faith in Action The Faith in Action Committee keeps member congregations apprised of aspects of public policy which are of interest to UUs. It may interpret, through VIEWPOINTS or at District Meetings, the policy decisions taken by the UUA or the NED. It may be requested by the Board to represent the NED at legislative hearings. It provides programs on aspects of Social Concerns at NED gatherings. The Social Concerns Committee includes a representative from the UU Ministry for Earth. website Our Maine UU Churches, through an iniative of the Faith in Action Committee, through our involvement with the Giving Winds Campaign, helped raise money to help our Maine Indian friends. Beginning in the fall of 2005, after matching funds from the UUA and from the federal government, we have offered contributions and loans totaling $275,825.00. This money is being used to provide housing and small business loans to the Maine Indian tribes.
