Chalice Lighter Program Advancing the light! Spreading the word! Sharing the faith! CHALICE LIGHTERS is a way to bring warmth, fellowship, and support to UU congregations in the NED. Congregations, new and old, struggle with limited resources. There are times, in their development, when some big, new step must be taken. It may be a crossroads of growth, stagnation, or decline. In such a "development crisis," a congregation must define some special project and "move" on it. The Extension Committee can help a congregation in three ways: help to define their strongest need; help to organize their own resources to meet that need; and act as a channel of financial support from others in the NED. The Extension Committee selects recipient congregations who apply for grants from the Chalice Lighters Program. Individuals can become Chalice Lighters by pledging ten dollars or more per call for no more than three calls a year. All of the money raised from contributions goes to the recipients designated in particular calls to Chalice Lighters. Application to enroll as a Chalice Lighter can be made to the Extension Committee through the NED Office. To become a Chalice Lighter or to apply to become a recipient for Chalice Lighter funds, you may contact Alyson Durham at e-mail Fall 2007 Chalice Lighter Appeal
