NED Goals 2002-2006 Review and revise the District Board structure as we reflect on our goals by October 2002. Review and revise the By-Laws to reflect all the changes needed and suggested by these goals. Revised By-Laws were approved at the 2003 Annual Meeting. Design a system for nurturing stronger intercongregational and congregation/District relationships. This system to be in place by Spring 2004. Implement the district's commitment to interdistrict provision of services as soon as practicable. Maintain a full-time equivalent D.E through June, 2003 and a part-time Program Consultant (with as much time as possible) within the Northeast District. Hold District gatherings and trainings which are well attended by all ages and from all congregations in order to rally our spirits and celebrate our efforts to live our faith. The District will continue to offer education and training in a variety of programs, such as Lifespan Religious Education, Social Justice, Small Group Ministry, Leadership Development, Conflict Resolution, and Congregational Financing and Operations. The NED will deliver these programs through multi-district meetings, district-wide gatherings, cluster meetings, camps and conferences, and invitations from individual congregations. Programs will be provided which are both age-specific and intergenerational. The District will provide resources to help congregations tap into these programs (such as scholarships.) Continue to encourage our youth and young adults to be involved in the life of their own congregations and in District-wide activities through organizations such as Young Religious UU(YRUU)s, Continental UU Young Adult Network (C'UUYAN), campus ministry, Small Group Ministry and camps and conferences. Join with the UUA, other Districts and local congregations to provide greater visibility for liberal religion. Participate fully with the Maine Council of Churches and other interfaith efforts, and encourage our congregations to be fully engaged with their communities. Use the latest information technology to improve communications within the District. Inspire and support congregations engaging in activities of social justice and social service with a visible and vocal presence. Provide training and resources to expand congregations' understanding
and exploration of spiritual development with an emphasis on communal
worship.
